Uniform Hub Launch

Compassion Acts are delighted to announce that they have joined forces with local community group, Free Uniforms for Southport Schools (FUSS), for a project which will now be known as Uniform Hub.

Nicola Alcock set up FUSS in 2010 and has been working hard ever since then to redistribute second-hand school uniform items to anyone who needs them. Along with Nicola, Compassion Acts hope to make this amazing resource available to even more people by locating the project in a new town centre “Community Hub” in Cambridge Walks, soon to open.

Compassion Acts hope that this project will not only help those who might struggle with the costly expense of new school uniforms, but also encourage people to think about the environmental impact of buying brand new uniforms each term or year.
Chief Executive, Richard Owens, says “By recycling unwanted uniforms, not only can families save money (something which is more needed than ever right now), but we are reducing waste and stopping these items going straight to landfill after a few months’ wear.”

Anyone can access the Uniform Hub regardless of circumstances. People are invited to either bring in some pre-loved unforms to exchange or alternatively make a small voluntary cash donation.

Uniform Hub at the Cambridge Walks Community Hub, 17a Cambridge Walks, Southport, PR8 1EN, will open on Friday 10th June and then be open every Friday from 11am until 1pm, no appointment necessary. Anyone wanting to know more can email uniformhub@compassionacts.uk or call the office on 01704 264 505.

If you have any clean and undamaged items of school uniform you would like to donate, they can be dropped off at the Victoria Centre, 197a Sussex Road, PR8 6DG.
Please note that white shirts, socks and underwear cannot be accepted unless new! Shoes and coats are very welcome.
