We are really pleased to announce that our new allotment project – ‘Growing Resilience’ is up and running! The plot is situated off Moss Road in Halsall. It provides an ideal environment for both clients of our Next Steps programme and our volunteers to improve their wellbeing. They will be able to get outdoors, learn new skills and meet new people. All while producing delicious home grown fruit and vegetables. Already we have potatoes, squash, lettuce, tomatoes, strawberries, raspberries and rhubarb growing to name just a few.
We think this is a brilliant opportunity to nurture the local natural environment, increase appreciation of quality, fresh food, and give people a chance to discover a new hobby or reignite an old passion. Any surplus food grown will be distributed to our Food Pantries in Southport, Formby and Banks.
We were also very fortunate to receive a grant from Sefton’s Community Champions Fund, which has allowed us to purchase a new shed and plenty of new equipment for the project. Many thanks to Sefton Council, Sefton CVS and Living Well Sefton.
