As we quickly approach Christmas, we wanted to take the opportunity to say THANK YOU to all of our supporters.

At the beginning of this month, we took part in the annual Tesco Winter Collection at Tesco, Kew. Customers there donated a total of 1323kg of food and other essentials over the 3 days. Tesco will also top up these donations by a brilliant 20%. Thank you to customers and staff, especially our Community Champion, Adele.

For the last 3 weekends, we attended the Massams Christmas Markets, where we collected food and financial donations. Thank you to everyone who donated there and to Massams for choosing us as their charity this year, as well as for the donations of food and Christmas trees!

Last week we hosted our ‘Carols around the Christmas tree’ event, where we switched on our Christmas tree lights. Through donations made to sponsor a light and at the event, we raised nearly £500. Thank you Southport Singers and Bishop David Sheppard School’s choir for braving the cold to give wonderful performances; to everyone who sponsored a light or attended, and to James at Sainsburys for personally donating mince pies, biscuits and milk for hot chocolate!

Southport Singers also recently hosted their own concert in aid of Compassion Acts and Southport Soup Kitchen, raising over £600 for each of us.

In addition to these events, we have been receiving many generous donations from new and regular supporters alike. Several local residents have been in touch wanting to donate their winter fuel payments as they have felt they don’t need them as much as others. Local businesses have been very supportive, including a £5000 donation from the owners of Southport Pleasureland. Community groups including Southport Lions Club in partnership with Southport Hesketh Round Table, and local Rotarys, have provided generous food donations.

Whilst there are too many individual supporters to mention, we are incredibly grateful to each and every one of them. Without their generosity we simply could not do our work of supporting local people. Something which, sadly, we expect will be needed more than ever this winter. So thank you on behalf of all of us at Compassion Acts.

Thank you for your support
