Families Discover the Joy of Cooking Together at Compassion Acts

Compassion Acts was delighted to welcome local families to our Let’s Get Cooking workshop yesterday, with the session proving to be a great success and enjoyed by everyone who attended.

The workshop gave parents and children the opportunity to cook together, learn practical kitchen skills and prepare healthy, affordable meals in a warm and welcoming environment. Each family prepared a delicious three-course menu, cooking chicken quesadillas, Banoffee Pie and drop scones. More than simply sharing recipes, the session encouraged families to spend quality time together, build confidence in the kitchen and discover the enjoyment of cooking as a family.

The positive feedback from participants reflected the impact the session had on those who attended. One family commented:

“Thank you! We will come again and we will try and remember the recipes at home.”

When asked whether they would be interested in attending future cooking sessions with their children, another parent enthusiastically replied:

“Yes Please! Would be happy to pay for sessions. Thanks.”

Responses like these highlight the value of bringing families together through practical, hands-on activities that promote healthy eating, strengthen family relationships and build lasting life skills.

We would like to thank everyone who attended and helped make the workshop such a positive experience. We are also incredibly grateful to our volunteers and team members whose enthusiasm and support made the session possible.

Following the success of this workshop, Compassion Acts hopes to offer more Let’s Get Cooking sessions in the future, giving more families the opportunity to learn new skills, share meals and create happy memories together.
